Home Tuition at Serangoon North

Introduction on our group

This is James, a tutor pursuing his bachelor degree. I had been giving tuition lessons to many students from express to normal technical stream for 3 years. I am able to help students to overcome their various weaknesses in their subjects.

I formed this small group tuition for students who are really weak at certain subjects. We are not looking for students who want tuition for the sake of tuition or wasting time. My tuition group consists of me, and my younger brother.

Our tuition slots for home tuition are very limited due to our studies scheldules. Currently, we welcome new students to join in our small group tuition located at Serangoon North Ave 3.

We are committed to the time we had scheduled for group tuition. Our small group tuition is really SMALL(Max 5-6). We will start the tuition class as long as there is 4 or more students. We believed that the size of a small tuition group would benefit students over a large group(tuition centres normal has about 20-30 students) or one-to-one tuition.

New Class time table will be out on the 14th August 2008. Please check out soon! To contact us or find more about us, please email us at jamestuition@gmail.com

FAQ

1. At What Age Is My Child Eligible To Enroll In The Tuition Classes?

Our tuition classes cater to students ranging from 7 to 16 years old (Primary One to 'O' levels).

2. What Is The Duration Of The Tuition Class?

Every tution class lasts about 1hour 30mins to 2hours, depending on the day's lesson plan.

3. What Is The Maximum Number Of Students In A Class?

We start most classes at four students. The maximum number of students that we would allow in a class is 5. You can be assured that our class size is of a manageable number and the teachers would still be able to ensure each student gets individual attention.

4. Does Small Tuition Group Provide Any Learning Materials?

We will provide materials for students during the classes. Students are expected to bring their textbooks(for maths, sciences and history) and their newly released tests/exam results.

5. Can My Child Bring His Or Her School Homework To Tuition Class?

Students are welcomed to bring along their school work to the class for discussion. We believe in sharing materials among different schools. In this way, students are given maximum exposure to different types and styles of questions. However, we hope that students had at least tried out the work before asking the tutor for help.

6. Can My Child Join The Small Tuition Group At Any Time?

The lessons are designed to be mutually exclusive; therefore your child is welcomed to join us anytime. However, due to our small class size and limited slots available, it will be better if you let us know earlier so that we can reserve a place for him/her.

7. Will There Be Classes On Public Holidays?

Classes will resume as usual during public holidays. Make up lessons may be scheduled if the group(e.g. tutors, students) is unable to be around during the public holidays.

8. If My child Is Sick And Has A Valid Medical Certificate, Will There Be Make-Up Lesson For Him or Her? Or Can I Pay Less For The Lessons Missed?

Make-up class can only be arranged within the week and are subject to availability. For cases which could not be arranged, materials will be provided and students would need to complete it at home, such that the teacher is able to go through with them the following week. However, if this is to persist for several weeks, please let us know in advance so that we can make the necessary arrangements for you. There will not be any make-up classes for missed lessons or pro-ration of the fees for non-attendance. Full payment is still required.

9. What Does My Child Need To Bring Upon Enrolling In The Tuition Group?

We encouraged students to bring along their old notes, examination papers and test papers, worksheets, exercise books, anything to show to the tutor so that we can at least gauge the students’ standard and weaknesses.
